I didn’t start Shadow Pro Careers because I lacked ambition.
I started it because I followed the “right” path—and learned too late it was the wrong one for me.

I was in nursing school, just two semesters away from graduating. On paper, everything looked perfect. I was also working as a Patient Care Assistant at a local hospital, finally getting real, hands-on experience in the field I had spent years preparing for.

That’s when the reality hit.

It wasn’t the workload or the hours—it was the work itself. Once I was actually in the environment, caring for patients day after day, I realized nursing wasn’t what I wanted long-term. And by that point, changing direction felt terrifying. I was close to finishing. I had already invested years of time, money, and effort.

I wasn’t alone.

I watched classmates push through degrees they hated because they were “too far in.” I saw others walk away with debt and no clear next step. And it became painfully obvious: we ask people to choose careers before they ever truly experience them.

Shadow Pro Careers exists to change that.

SPC connects students and career-changers with real job-shadowing opportunities—so they can see the day-to-day reality of a career before committing years of their life to it. No pressure. No sales pitch. Just honest exposure and informed decisions.

I don’t believe changing your mind means you failed.
I believe it means you learned something valuable—and SPC exists to help people learn that sooner.
